An affiliate link is a unique URL contained your id/code, which is used to track the traffic and sales you generated for a partner vendor.

After you get your affiliate link, you can promote it in various ways (I will cover this in a second).

When people click on your affiliate link, they will be directed to the vendor’s site. 

If they make a purchase, you will be rewarded a commission at no extra cost to the customer. You may get paid for leads as well.

Even if they don’t buy anything instantly, a small file called cookies will be stored in their browser and keep the credit to your affiliate account, as long as the customer purchases within a specific timeframe (typically 30-90 days).

Every time you sign up with an affiliate program or affiliate network, you will be provided with an affiliate dashboard to get/create your affiliate link(s), check your link tracking stats, and earn the total commission, etc.

Some of the vendors might provide you the promotional materials as well (i.e. banners, ad copy, and email swipes).

There are many ways to promote your affiliate links, and blogging is the most common one. It’s very cost-effective and allows you to build a strong personal brand that lasts long.

By producing blog posts with high buyer intent, you will have the chance to introduce your recommended products or services to your readers, how they would benefit from it, and give them a clear “call-to-action” to buy the products through your links.

The types of blog posts with high buyer intent are included:

It’s among the very best marketing approach for bloggers and website owners because it allows you to promote the products you frequently recommend on your blog.

However, it’s not just about inserting your affiliate links on the page. You need to include compelling descriptions, telling your readers why you love these tools and how they could benefit from their use, too.

For instance, let’s assume you have a dog blog. You can create a resource page that shows your readers the tools, equipment, and pet foods you authentically use to take care of your dog.

6) Utilize Promotional Materials From The Vendor

As I mentioned earlier, some of the affiliate vendors provide promotional materials like clickable banners, ad copy, and email swipes.

Take banners as an example, you can display these banners in several places on your blog, such as:

Some of them might also provide you a unique HTML code that you embed in applicable posts.

3) Instagram

As opposed to Facebook, Instagram is best known for the high engagement that occurs on the platform, which could bring you higher income potential.

With that said, Instagram has one major downside: the links aren’t clickable in the post caption. You need to lead your audiences to your bio for the link. Inevitably, this could hurt the conversion rate.

However, if you have a big enough audience (at least 10k), you will unlock the “Swipe Up” function, where you can incorporate an affiliate link in your story, and people can easily swipe up to get access to the vendor’s site.

4) Pinterest

Pinterest is another popular visual social media platform besides Instagram.

I am pretty sure when you google something, you might get 1 or 2 search results appeared to be Pinterest account(s) occasionally. 

That’s the beauty of Pinterest. It ranked relatively well in the search engine results page (SERP) compared to other social media platforms.

If you focus on publishing SEO-friendly Pins on Pinterest, they could drive a lot of free organic traffic from the search engine. More Viewers = More Revenue Potential.

5) Twitter

Every second, there are around 6,000 tweets tweeted on Twitter. To sum up, that corresponds to over 350,000 tweets sent per minute, and more than 500,000,000 tweets per day. 

Furthermore, Twitter has over 320 million users, with 145 million monetizable daily active users.

Sometimes, running solo ads can bring you a better ROI because the vendor has a list of warm audiences who are already interested in their email newsletter.
